Rose Rock Red
She played barefoot, in the dust on Gandpa’s land
A curly redhead girl, with a mason jar in hand
On a scrawny Noble farm, ‘neath cotton candy skies
She hunted rose rock riches with wide and sparkling eyes
She believed they only bloomed…from Oklahoma’s soul
With petals carved from magic, that only dreamers hold
They called her Rose Rock Red, princess of the sand
A crown of wildflowers, and a rose rock in her hand
She’d give her rock to anyone, just to see them smile
Then dance among the clover…a spirit silly wild
In her make-believe kingdom, she was loved by everyone
She had a rose rock heart, full of magic, and everlasting fun
She threw her garden parties for imaginary friends
And curtsied in the driveway, wildflowers in place of gems
Every rose rock she discovered held a story still untold
A ruby from old Camelot, a treasure of red gold
Norman to Thunderbird, she searched like it was fate
And gave away her treasures, so someone else would feel great
Spinning tales of castles in the Norman countryside
She could make a feast of crumbs, and still smile with pride
And laugh so long and loud, it would echo far away
She made the most of each second…hour, and every day
“No one had more fun,” is what she always said
A generous, loyal dreamer…that’s the life that she led
Going through her things, in a shed with an old, broken lock
Tucked way in the back, I found a tattered, faded box
Inside, her rose rocks, wrapped in paper notes
Imagined dreams she never lived, but only wrote
I took a rose rock…held it tight, let time slip away
I could see her in the sunshine, laughing on that day
They called her Rose Rock Red, a smiling child at play
I opened a note just to see what it would say
“To whoever finds this rock — this rocky rose grants your wish”
I silently wished my mom had finally found a prince to kiss
She made riches from the earth, joy from the dust
And lived her life in wonder, in God she would trust
She was Rose Rock Red, a child sweet and true
She taught us how to smile in everything we do
Her heart was full of love, her head full of grace
She could turn each lonely corner into her magic place
I took her box of rocks, and spread them in my flower bed
They’ll live on beside the flowers, that bloom for Rose Rock Red
I see in every flower…the dreams of Rose Rock Red

To The Top of The Hill
They came from the southwest territory plains
Dust-covered boots, fearless hearts, steel in their veins
They rode for more than glory — they rode with grit and pride
They answered the call when Teddy cried…
“Bring me the best, the bold, the ones who will ride!”
McGinty rode to join…all through the night
Capron, Huston and Frantz, all ready to fight
Men of courage, sharp-eyed and steady true
Teddy led em’ into battle like thunder rollin’ through
To the top of the hill, boys
They rode with Roosevelt, Oklahoma tough and free
From Guthrie to the hills of San Juan by the sea
They fought for their country, they fought side by side
Legends carved in battles against the Spanish tide
They charged into glory, with Rough Rider pride
Franz took the colors when the captain fell
Held the flag high and shouted, “To the top of the hill”
Charging into a hail of cannon fire and lead
Winning the hill…two score went down, seven were dead
To the top of the hill, boys
They rode with Roosevelt, through smoke and pain
Names etched in blood, avenging the Maine
They fought with valor to the top of the hill
And defeated the Spanish at Old San Juan Hill
Oklahoma tough, Rough Rider proud…fate fulfilled
They rode with Roosevelt, he called for the best
Cowboys, ranch hands, lawmen of the west
They fought, some fell, but they answered the call
Forging Rough Rider legend, heroes one and all
To The Top of The Hill, boys
To The Top of The Hill, boys
They rode into history
To The Top of The Hill, boys
They rode into history

I’ll Be Here
I don’t have fancy words to say
My heart whispers to you every day
The quiet moonlight through the windowpane
Brings the peace that soothes away my pain
I know you’re a long way away
Doin’ what you need to do for the pay
I pray the moon shines on you too
And brings you home soon…to stay
I’ll Be Here…loving you
Still here…loving you
Through every sunrise and sunset
I’ll Be Here…on that, you can bet
I don’t care how long it takes
For you to get back home
Every tide rolls back where it belongs
When this old world fades from view
I’ll still be here, loving you
I’m still here, loving you
Still here…loving you
Through every storm and freezing rain
Never doubt my love remains
Always here…loving you
Here…loving you
When your strength is gone, your run is done
Come back home, we’ll live as one
I’ll Be Here…loving you
Always here…loving you

The Reeves Brothers Casino
The day after the land run…dust still on the breeze
Two brothers pitched a canvas, on a corner near the trees
A tent big as a steamboat, a room for vice and sin
Cards a-flyin’, fists were too — Boomer Sooners pouring in
Faro, Monte, roulette and poker, the whiskey ran like rain
And Guthrie found its beating heart, soaked in luck and flame
No key to close it down, no lock to bar the door
Whiskey flowed, bets were made…trouble by the score
Dusk till dawn, cards were dealt, the fastest gun would take the crown
The Reeves boys ran a house of sin…and hell couldn’t shut it down
They traded canvas for a frame, then laid the bricks by hand
The finest hell this side of Dodge, in a brand-new promised land
They lit cigars with folded bills, gold stacked and silver flowed
Folks came to try their luck…in the Reeves Brothers Casino
On the door, a sign was nailed, a gospel pledge to beware:
We’ll bury you polite, boys — polished boots and brushed-back hair
Red Buck tossed his coins with a grin that smelled like sin
Tulsa Jack was near the bar, with whiskey on his chin
Little Dick was watchin’ close, pistols in each hand
Al and Frank drew their cards, rob a train—tomorrow’s plan
Tilghman, Madsen, Heck rode with holsters loose and wide
Three Guardsmen sworn to chase the storm, until the day they died
They never closed the doors, the social orgy of the town
Ladies of the night, donning sass and frilly gowns
Outlaws, gamblers, pioneers — the legends all came ‘round
To the Reeves Brothers' house of sin…and hell can’t burn it down
Statehood came, they bought the law, with papers in their hand
A deputy knocked on the open doors, backed by a marching band
The hinges laughed, the locks were rust…they came to lock em’ down
They searched the place for a goddamn key, but none was ever found
No key to close it down, no curfew for the damned
They dealt fate on the turn of a card with whiskey in their hands
The legends ride on every breeze that rolls through Guthrie town
The Reeves boys built a house of sin…til’ statehood shut it down

Cosmic Troubadour
Jimmy, you were the best friend I never met
You sang the soundtrack of my life
You were the son of a son of a sailor
A jungle cowboy, too
Our captain, our pirate, our Gulf coastal poet
In the Hemisphere Dancer, you flew
With the spirit of the great heart
You sailed us on a lovely cruise
You took us off to see the lizard
Showed us the apocalypso flow
Where the cigar smoke does swirl
When that big volcano blows
Biloxi, Ringlin’, and Havana daydreamin’
What the gypsy and the wino knows
Surf the cosmic waves, my friend
Sail the stellar tides
Sing your carnival songs again
Calypso Cosmic Troubadour
I hope you find…
That special harbor’s shores
Jimmy, all the stories you could tell
Boat drinks, bars, and beaches…
You shared with us so well
Latitudes change attitudes
Simple pleasures—life’s true treasures
It depends upon your gypsy surfer view
A pencil-thin mustache is cool again
Cheeseburgers…dream‘sicles
Fruitcakes and gummies kickin’ in
Our barometer soup menu
Salt shakers lost in solar wind
Sail the cosmic stars, my friend
Surf a meteor shower
Strum your six-string guitar, my friend
Enjoy each light-year hour
Tack into the sheltered cove, my friend
In that fin-filled Milky Way
There’s a tiki torch burnin’
High tides, sunsets, oceans lost in time
A steel drum sounds a gentle, sweet goodbye
Boat drinks raised high to you
Toasts in a tin cup chalice
May your one particular harbor dream come true
Fly the Dancer where distant galaxies glow
Hang ten with your wanderin’ toes
Pick up Jerry Jeff, Ralph, and Reggie, too
And throw a big ass party…
At your beach house on the moon
We love you, Jimmy
A toast in a tin cup chalice
May your one particular harbor…dream come true

Riverside Rendezvous
I saw you at the party, late graduation night
Alone beside the pool, halter top, jeans…so tight
Our paths had rarely crossed, but enchanted by the view
I took a last, first chance, and sat down next to you
I’d seen you off and on, and heard about you too
A quiet, decent guy, whose heart was always true
I told you that my ride had gone… and left me there alone
You smiled and humbly offered…maybe you could drive me home
That old railway bridge across the river
Down Riverside Drive, I heard it had a view
I mentioned I would like to stop, you smiled again
A subtle sexy grin, and said you’d heard about it too
And long into the night, we talked and laughed
Above the flowing river, beneath the flower moon…
The memory of a lifetime…our Riverside Rendezvous
The river swirled below, above…a falling crescent glow
I pulled you close and kissed you, deep and long and slow
You pulled me closer still, sparks behind your smile
Your touches made me shiver, soft and slow and wild
It’s been so long since I have been back home
Driving down along the river, I see the bridge is gone
The view remains…forever in my mind
That night we talked, and laughed, and kissed
Late graduation night, the setting moon and you
We held each other oh so close…our Riverside Rendezvous
I don’t recall the last time I was home
But I remember fateful moments life offers,
Then takes away before you know
Old bridges…burning passions, fade into the past
Hope and dreams, like fading moons
Disappear, when just within our grasp
I turned around…drove back up the river road
Hoping I might see the bridge…maybe see you too
And together we could walk again
On one more Riverside Rendezvous
So long ago, forever lost
Our only Riverside Rendezvous
Quite a view…our Riverside Rendezvous

The Dusky Demon
He rode where the red dust swallowed the day
Travis County born, but Oklahoma made
Bill Pickett, the Dusky Demon, bold and proud
His teeth bulldogged steers
And he won every crowd
His charisma and skill, the whole world would see
Showmanship crowned the Wild West history
From the 101 Ranch to the Old King's Court
With a lasso of thunder and crowd-pleasing force
He showed Rogers and Mix how a real cowboy rides
And showed the wild west that all men have pride
He wasn’t just muscle; he had silver screen shine
His legend rose from rodeo dirt…to the Hollywood screen
He refined the image of the black cowboy
He rose from the shadows and carried his name
All the way to the Cowboy Hall of Fame
A true legend of the West, his story still shines
A true legend of the West, a lost hero of mine
Ride, Dusky Demom, ride—your fire never fades
Through the wind of the plains and rodeo parades
From steer-dust arenas to cinema’s glow
You rode with a purpose the world otta’ know
So, raise your hat to a man who earned it
Bill Pickett, the Dusky Demon…forever in fame
His story rides the wind, his legacy remains
An Oklahoma hero…forever in fame
Ride on Dusky Demon, live forever in fame

Tornado Love
Why do they name every hurricane
But tornadoes don’t rate an alias?
They tear through hearts just the same
Fast, destructive, and dangerous
Tornado Love, you smile so sweet
Your talkin’ tastes like wine
My heart fluttered, skipped a beat
I swallowed every line
Daddy always told me.
“Honey, hear me when I say,
You judge a man by what he does
Not by what he claims
‘Cause a man will whisper anything
Just to fan a pretty flame”
You blew in like a twister
False charms and polished lines
But you left my love in splinters
Used my heart and then tossed it aside
Tornado Love, it comes on strong
It spins you all around
It leaves your heart in pieces, girl
Then he moves on, and your spirit spirals down
Before you fall, you have to watch the signs
‘Cause every man shows his true colors
What he does will show you every time
It amazes me how you can look at yourself
And never feel any shame
You should be enshrined in neon lights
In the Broken Heart Hall of Fame
I hope you get everything you want
And all that you deserve
She might be young, she might be fooled
But she’ll figure out…
That you’re a lyin’ limp-ass tool
Mama always warned me
“Jaz, just take your time
Don’t fall for the first man
who throws out a line
Look for a man who walks the walk
Not just talks the talk
A good man, he won’t rush you
He’ll act on what he says
And when you find him darlin’
You can trust your heart again”
Tornado Love—it flashes sparks and fades
So sweet to start, but bitter in the wake
Tornado Love—it spins you blind with promises made
Then disappears like smoke in the rain
Tornado Love—watch out gals
If you let a buzzard in, he’ll strip your spirit clean
Wait for a good man…with integrity
It’s worth the wait, take it from me
Stay away from Tornado Love
And the Broken Heart Hall of Fame
Stay away from Tornado Love
And the Broken Heart Hall of Fame

Backyard BBQ
We lit the coals ‘round half past noon
Had burgers, brats, coolers filled with brews
Uncle Joe showed up with a 12-pack grin
And chugged his first beer when Aunt Brenda walked in
Tawnie Rae slid in the gate, lookin’ mighty fine
The Grandma started yellin’, “Where’s the damn wine?”
It’s our backyard BBQ, Lord bless us all
Beer pong, cornhole, a fun weekend ball
It always starts peaceful, a fun family feast
Til’ Grandma gets tipsy and her sass is greased
(“Hey, keep your eye on Grandma”)
The grill starts a smokin’, the music gets loud
Neighbors wave over the fence, we’re drawin’ a crowd
It’s just another Saturday zoo
At our Backyard BBQ
Tawnie Rae was spillin’ out of that swimsuit so tight
Those twins she calls her “big fun bags”, oh, what a sight
She dropped a hot wing, and bent over low
Uncle Joe dropped his beer, enjoyin’ the show
The cornhole turned into an all-out war
And then I spied Grandma with another tall pour
It’s our weekend backyard BBQ, Lord help us now
Aunt Brenda called Tawnie Rae a tarted-up cow
The grills now on fire and no one gives a (“Shucks”)
The burgers are sizzled, the sausage burnt crisp
Grandma’s spinnin’ some crazy hula twist
(“Hey, look at Grandma”)
Just another wacky and wild family brew
At our backyard BBQ
Hey, there’s a flip-flop floatin’ in the cole slaw bin
And a wet t-shirt contest just now began
I yelled at the kids to get into their beds
Sneaky smart asses are filming TikToks instead
Grandma’s slow dancin’ with the garden rake
And crazy Uncle Joe’s tryin’ to grill a frozen steak
Yeah, it’s our backyard BBQ, chaos deluxe
The dogs ate the burgers, Auntie went home in a huff
Uncle Joe’s on the roof singing “Friends in Low Places”
Grandma’s passed out, thank the Lord for small graces
Tawnie Rae’s twins popped out again in full view…
Now Joe is singin’ “Why Don’t We Get Drunk“ and “Whew’”
If you ain’t got a story, you didn’t stay long
If you can’t remember anything, you’ll wind up in our song
Yeah, we’ll do it all again next week, come one and come all..
Just our normal backyard BBQ…
(“Hey, someone throw a beach towel on Grandma”)
Just our normal family BBQ

Somehow, Somewhere, Someway, Someday
You were the real star in the Friday night lights
Leading the cheers, in our high school fights
I stood at the fence, couldn’t care less for the score
You were the only one that I rooted for
I chased the flash, the ego, the fame
The popular boys with the trophies and games
But I learned real quick when the glitter wore thin
That flash and the ego so rarely win
Somehow, Somewhere, Someway, Someday
I saw in your eyes what your words couldn’t say
I held on tight through silence and doubt
Till your quiet heart finally reached out
Our love’s no longer a wish—it’s the life we have made
I finally saw you one day in the cafeteria line
Givin’ half your lunch to a kid left behind
You never looked to see whose attention you drew
But every small act helped me see the real you
Then one day you waved when I passed you by
Not the kind of wave you toss to just any guy
So I asked for a date, a fool’s hope I hoped God would bless
Your smile said maybe, but your eyes said “Yes”
Somehow, Somewhere, Someway, Someday
I saw in your eyes what your words couldn’t say
I held on tight through silence and doubt
Till your quiet heart finally reached out
Our love’s no longer a wish—it’s the life we have made
We built up a life on love’s honest ground
Scraped knees, lots a’ laughter, and worn hand-me-downs
Our house ain’t too fancy, but the foundations deep
And we’ve built family traditions that our family will keep
Now the kids have moved on, they call once in a while
With stories and photos that makes my heart smile
I still hold your hand on our front porch swing
You still kiss my forehead like I’m everything
Somehow, Somewhere, Someway, Someday
Two hearts found a rhythm no storm could sway
We’ve walked through the silence, the fire, the rain
True love held us together, the joys smothered the pain
It’s not just a dream—it’s the life we have made
If I could do it all over, I’d do it longer and slower
With you by my side, that’s all my heart needs to know
Somehow you saw me, Someway…Someday
And Somewhere in eternity, our souls will play
Somehow, Somewhere, Someway, Someday

Ghosts of Cimarron
They came with their hopes in a canvas-tied roll
From far northern timber and panhandle coal
With rifles and bibles and boots laced with dust
They carved out a living through hunger and thirst
The wagons rolled in on the 89’ run
The Sooners and Boomers sought red prairie sand
They fought natives and outlaws, then branded the land
Many died from the plow or with a gun in their hand
Now they ride with the Ghosts of Cimarron
Where the wind hums a hymn when daylight is done
They whisper in cedars, they sing in the stone
The long, lonely ride, just driftin’ alone
The Ghosts of Cimarron
The cowboys ran cattle through hail and flame
They followed the stars, to ruin or fame
The outlaws rode hard into myth and regret
Sawdust on their souls and a trail of lost bets
The lawmen were lean with grit in their veins
Enforcing raw justice through peril and pain
Some buried their dreams in the Red River clay
Some just rode west with nothin’ to say
They marched them in silence through mud, sorrow, and snow
The white treaties were ashes, the U-No-Le would blow
Their songs filled the wind but were drowned by the years
But the ghosts of the land still hears the Trail of Tears
And they ride with the Ghosts of Cimarron
They drift through the dusk, where shadows are long
So many tales lost to the rivers and wind
They haunt every canyon, lost souls whisper within
You can feel them move when the campfire's low
The Ghosts of Cimarron
Most graves don’t have statues, or flowers or fame
Just a legacy spirit for us that remain
There was honor in sweat, and grace in the gun
And dust of the bones neath’ the Cimarron sun
So here’s to the Ghosts of Cimarron
Still driftin’ like smoke through canyon and sage
They still ride beside us, their souls in our songs
The Ghosts of Cimarron
So pour one for them, take a slow sip, and tip your hat
For the Ghosts…of Cimarron
The Ghosts of Cimarron

Unspoken Words
You used to sit beside me, barefoot on the hood
Talkin’ bout’ forever like I should have understood
I watched the sun light up your hair, but never said a thing
My silence warped in pride, and then lost my everything
Your wedding came and went, my silence you misread
I drank down every toast I should have raised to you instead
That ring upon your hand, I bit my tongue and froze my smile
You needed love, and I just gave you silence all the while
Unspoken Words, they weigh the most
They hang like smoke, they haunt like ghosts
I never set my feelings free
They drifted deep inside of me
A sailing soul, forever lost at sea
And now I drift alone
With those Unspoken Words
You sent a note from Georgia, just to say your life is fine
I stared at it for hours, still wishin’ you were mine
I should have called you on the phone, but I just whispered in the dark
But that don’t mean a damn thing, when you’ve got a broken heart
I carved our initials, behind this old church pew
No one reads it, not even God, but I pray he blesses you
The truth can be a diamond, but it won’t shine unless it’s shown
And love, when left in silence, turns to barren stone
Unspoken Words don’t fade with time
A silent echo, lost in time
I should’ve told you what was true
I let you drift away like smoke from flame
Now, only silence answers when I call your name
And I’m left alone
With those Unspoken Words
Unspoken Words, too late to speak
They crack the strong, they crush the meek
I should have said it when it shined
When hearts were open, our stars aligned
But now the page is closed, the book’s been burned
And all that’s left…
Are those Unspoken Words
The stars don’t listen like they used to do
The wind just carries whispers, that never will come true
If I could go back, I’d say all you deserved to hear
I guess I thought you knew…
Unspoken Words can still be true
