The Journey
Randy S Cook
Writer, Producer, Creative Director.

From Guthrie beginnings to Village childhood in OKC, then Tulsa by ’75—I grew up with Oklahoma in my bones. OU finally let me graduate, and I gave the next decades to the grindstone. I’ve lived the music of Memphis, the rhythm of New Orleans, the hum of Austin, and the hustle of Dallas (twice). But no matter how far I roamed, the red dirt called me back. And here I am—home again in Oklahoma.
I'm retired...and having embraced AI, I've searched for fun ways to use it to create. I hope you enjoy the music.

The Songs
With a love for storytelling, my music reflects events and people in my life, and the vibrant culture and history of Oklahoma.
Sound
The songs are authentic, the lyrics my own. My biggest musical compass points have always been Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, along with Jerry Jeff Walker. Add in JJ Cale, Poco, John Prine, Merle Haggard, Linda Ronstadt, The Marshall Tucker Band, and later Toby Keith, and you’ll hear the mix that shaped me. What I write blends classic country rhythms with honest, heartfelt stories — snapshots of my life, the people I’ve known, and the pieces of Oklahoma history that deserve a song.
Meet the Band
The Cimarron Barn Band is my imaginary supergroup. I built them in my head, one fiddle, one banjo, one dobro at a time. I’ve always thought music is more powerful when you can put an image with the sound, so I let these “mythical” band members sit in while I wrote. Crazy thing is, it worked. They pushed the music further, made it sharper. In the end, that’s all I wanted — songs that fans can feel, not just hear.
